Job club is vital for our tenants and learners in developing personal skills, their English skills, and begins the journey into employment. It also reassures them that support is still there. This reduces the chance of them slipping into hopelessness and helps them develop and move on.
This drop-in service provides assistance with CV writing, cover letters, job searches and applications for our service users. It’s a welcoming space where people of all ages and backgrounds come for education and employment support. The service is very well attended by both our tenants, learners and members of the community. It is a service that requires a lot of support as most of the attendees have low English levels and basic IT skills.
We are looking for Job club mentors to build strong one-to-one relationships with job club service users. Mentors will support their mentee/s to look and apply for work, get to know the local area and gain confidence with their job search and career aspirations. As a Job Club Mentor, you will be working alongside the Job Club Manager, a Career Adviser and fellow Volunteers to provide support to our service users.
Tasks and responsibilities
- To offer support and help to individuals using with searching and applying for jobs.
- To make service users feel relaxed and listened to; to encourage and motivate service users; to work in a friendly manner.
- To build relationships with regular service users and help them improve their independence in their job search.
Skills and attributes required
- A friendly, patient and helpful personality.
- IT Skills (send emails, navigate the internet).
- Reading and writing skills in English.

The job club address is Unit 1, Ashley Court, Ashley Road, Bristol, Easton, BS6 5NW.
The job club takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm - 4pm. As a volunteer, hours can be flexible, and you are not required to attend every session.
