#WithRefugees

#WithRefugees

The refugee crisis is something that really links the local to the global. ACH and Himilo Training have been running our #rethinkingrefugee campaign which stresses that refugees should be seen as assets for development and not as problems to be tackled. With skills shortages apparent in many sectors of the economy, this is very relevant in many UK regions.

At the same time, on a global scale, UNHCR has launched the #WithRefugees Campaign which we have been very glad to become part of. ACH / Himilo Training is committing to be a part of a growing coalition that supports the refugee cause. This will help us demonstrate that the public stands together with refugees and feels strongly about the need to protect them. This is important in the lead up to the adoption of the global compact for refugees in 2018, which will bring shared solutions to address the refugee crisis. The Campaign will run until the global compact for refugees is adopted and will serve to articulate public support for the commitments it contains. Our goal is to demonstrate this global solidarity to send a message to world leaders and decision makers everywhere to work together to help refugees. We urge you sign the #WithRefugees petition http://www.unhcr.org/withrefugees/petition/

Claire Lamont of UNHCR said “I am really pleased ACH and Himilo have committed to #WithRefugees. I have been really impressed by the practical steps they are taking to the integration of refugees ."

The #WithRefugees Coalition members are from all members of society across the world who believe together we can create a greater impact. We aim to have a 500-strong Coalition by the time UNHCR presents the Global Compact to the UN General Assembly in September 2018.

We stand together #WithRefugees. Thank you for standing with us.
