Baidoa Growth Hub Training in Hargeisa

The Baidoa Growth Hub aims to address the employment challenges faced in Baidoa, Somalia. It was created and set up to eliminate the dependence on unsustainable NGOs and time-limited projects, by promoting innovation and entrepreneurship within local communities. Furthermore, by creating sustainable businesses rooted in longevity though the Baidoa Growth Hub, it will support Somalia’s economic growth by curating a competent and flexible workforce.

The initial training took place over a week-long period in Hargeisa, Somaliland, with a team from ACH arriving on the 23rd February 2019. The week began with a focus on training around business plans, logistics of setting up a Growth Hub, and knowledge of finances and SWOT analysis. By the end of the week, participants were confident with the concept of a Growth Hub, its purpose and the need for such an establishment to exist in the region.

The participants learnt skills and knowledge around communication, community engagement and mobilisation to create a successful and sustainable Growth Hub. They continued to grow in confidence and by the end of the week were able to explain the concept behind it and began putting in place the next steps to set up their own Growth Hub back in Baidoa.
