Read the Home Office news piece on the innovative pilot scheme, Entrepreneur training pilots, of which ACH is one of four programme delivery partners. 

'ACH will engage with over 100 refugees in Bristol and the West of England. Building on a previous research project, ACH will support refugees new to entrepreneurship; business owners ‘just about managing’ and looking to strengthen their foundations; and ambitious entrepreneurs looking to scale up.'

Our Entrepreneurship Lead, Lydia Samuel, spoke to the Independent about the importance of Barton Hill Settlement to the local community:

'Lydia Samuel has noticed that many entrepreneurs in the Barton Hill area of Bristol are linked by one common theme. “People [in Barton Hill] want to run businesses to help other people,” Samuel says. She is an entrepreneurship facilitator for ACH, a social enterprise resettling refugees through labour markets and social integration in Bristol. “They see a need, whether it be childcare or learning to drive.'' ' 

This BBC Somali Service feature showcased business success stories of migrant people from East African communities settled in the South West, particularly in Bristol, and also highlighted challenges they face. ACH was visited by BBC News Somali and gave our commentary on the piece.

A Wolverhampton organisation which has helped more than 2,000 refugees settle in the city is marking Refugee Week with special art projects. ACH is backing an exhibition at Light House Cinema & Cafe Bar.

A 14-feet high sculpture of a howling wolf is catching attention at Wolverhampton’s Light House.

“I’d like to thank ACH for their ongoing help and support for the Wolf Project. I hope we can create more striking artworks for Wolverhampton in future.”

Housing association ACH Wolverhampton helped to fund a number of the artworks.

ACH Wolverhampton is proud to be playing a part in the city’s Refugee Week celebrations through funding the production of a number of pieces of art, including a 4.5-metre wolf, via their #rethinkingrefugee campaign.

From environmental issues to alternative economics, Bristol’s ethical entrepreneurs have long been at the forefront of driving positive change.

With a reputation for enterprise and a willingness to disrupt the status quo, the city is a prime location for socially conscious businesses and continues to play a prominent role on the national and international stage.
