Valuing our staff

People are key to the work we do at ACH – both the people we work with and the people who work for us. With that in mind, we have recently held annual appraisals and role evaluations.

As an organisation we value our staff, continually investing in their personal and career development and progression. We also believe it’s important to have fun and get to know staff outside of the normal working environment. We have had a team building session in December for our teams in the West Midlands which was fantastic. You can read more about it here. To help with team-building and keeping spirits high, we recently had an ACH fun day with our staff in Bristol.

Organisers of the day were our very own dedicated ‘fun-team’, Jane, Julia and Matilda and we couldn’t have asked for better as they did a brilliant job. We left the office at 10am on Thursday 5th July to get to West Country Go Karting for the start of our day.

The Go Karting was such a fun experience with some good old competitive spirit building up between staff. The groups were randomised which meant people from all teams were mixed together. The outdoor track was a perfect setting as the weather was beautiful and we could all cheer our teammates on from the side of the track.

After the first few laps each, everyone came into their own! There were some amazing over-takes, nail-biting crashes and deserved victories. With group 7 winning most of the way, it was a last-minute triumph for group 8 who thanks to Nazim, from Finance and HR, overtook Tomasz from our Maintenance team to crown group 8 as the winners. It was a tense and exciting moment for all involved!

Who knew that all of our ACH Bristol staff could be so competitive – it was great to see everyone cheering on all teams and really getting into it.

After the Go Karting, we went to Oldbury Court Estate for an afternoon of BBQing and games. It was a time for everyone to chill out, revel in their victories (or losses) and get to know each other better. We played lots of games, including rounders, football and badminton and ate lots of amazing BBQ food and salad.

Everyone has since come back from our fun day full of energy and grateful to have had such a lovely day together out of the office.

Julia (fun day organiser) said; “Everyone put their all into today! Good work teams. I want to go again”. Akshah from our Housing team also said that it was an “amazing day and lots of fun. Thank you to Jane, Julia and Matti for organising it all”.
