All about Birmingham's Tenant Festival and Coventry's Fasika

Who doesn't love joyful gatherings? At ACH, we certainly do!

Tenants and staff alike confirmed they indeed felt at home and part of a warm community, which ultimately was our goal.

To celebrate Easter/Fasika and Eid, we brought together our tenants and staff for a fantastic time of fun and relationship-building. Our goal is always to make our community feel like home, no matter the circumstances that brought us together. In our view, if you celebrated these events in your previous homes, then we will aim to bring that feeling here so no one misses out!

In Birmingham, we called it the 'Tenants Festival'. We enjoyed games like table tennis, an egg and spoon race, a country quiz, and Pictionary. We also had food, music, and most importantly, a room filled with communal spirit and smiles.

Coventry also hosted a 3-hour "Fasika Celebration" with both staff and tenants. An attendee described it as "a wonderful blend of cultures, featuring delicious Turkish cuisine, an authentic Eritrean coffee ceremony, Italian tiramisu, and a variety of tasty snacks." Tenants and staff alike confirmed they indeed felt at home and part of a warm community, which ultimately was our goal.

At ACH, we are always committed to ensuring individuals thrive by providing housing and employability/educational support. However, alongside this journey, we ensure that we honour the rich cultural traditions of our community, celebrate the strength and joy in diversity, and foster inclusion. We believe that all of these is important in our journey to uplift individuals.

In Coventry we enjoyed a sunny and beautiful day as we gave away free traditional coffee from Sudan, Iran, and Eritrea in the city centre. It was a valuable opportunity to meet new people and spread our message of better inclusion, compassion, and empowerment.
