For the second time this year we visited a class of NCTJ Journalism students at the City of Wolverhampton College to tell our story. Rose and Laura were interviewed as representatives from ACH and Meli was interviewed as an ex-tenant and volunteer at ACH.

The Baidoa District Stability, Employment Skills and Entrepreneurship Strengthening Project (BDSESES) project aims to address the employment challenges faced in Baidoa, Somalia by creating a competent and flexible workforce to support the country’s economic recovery and growth.

First West of England has teamed up with ACH to help refugees in the city find work and build new careers.

ACH ended 2018 in style with a double awards win at the MTM Awards. We won Business of the Year and our CEO, Fuad Mahamed, won Person of the Year.

We recently had a visit from the Avon Fire and Rescue Service who gave a workshop to staff and tenants on the importance of fire safety and fire safety prevention tips. This is part of an ongoing relationship to help our tenants and staff feel confident and safe at work or home.

On November 29th ACH attended the #CMIGPDAwards in Coventry, presenting an award for an excellent student assignment about how we can better promote our work in the West Midlands.

Thanks to a small grant from the Quartet Community Foundation, ACH / Himilo is working with Bristol Refugee Rights to give asylum seekers experience of employment in the UK through short visits to employers across the city - including Bristol City Council, UWE and First West of England. This project began today with a workshop at St Paul’s Learning Centre.
